Braces Options for Our Patients
If you have teeth that need to be re-aligned, there are several different options to choose from. Some of the options available include:
Traditional Metal Bracket Braces – The most common braces are braces that use metal brackets and metal wires to straighten their teeth. They are not only the most affordable option – they are also highly effective, which is why they are still commonly used today.
Ceramic Braces – Ceramic braces are similar to metal braces, except they use a ceramic material that is tooth colored, making them a bit less noticeable at first glance. Like metal braces, they use metal wires to straight teeth. They are a bit more fragile than metal braces, but a similar option with more appeal for those shy about metal braces. Porcelain braces are also available.
Lingual Braces – Lingual braces are braces that go behind the teeth, not in front of it. These are a very popular option in the Mission Viejo, Lake Forest, and Rancho Santa Margarita areas, because they are invisible unless someone looks inside of your mouth. Lingual braces do come with some drawbacks, such as difficulty cleaning, but are otherwise a useful choice.
Invisalign – As the leading Mission Viejo Invisalign provider, Invisalign is perhaps our most common request. Here in Orange County, these braces are highly popular, using clear, removable aligners that are nearly Invisible to the naked eye. But not everyone is a good candidate for Invisalign, which is why a consultation is important.
Self-Ligating Braces – Self-ligating braces are very similar to traditional braces, and except they use clips instead of elastic bands and require fewer Mission Viejo orthodontics appointments. They are also easier to clean, but may feel different in the mouth.
