What You Need To Know About The Different Types Of Dental Braces

It is everyone’s right to have a smile that makes them proud. Braces can help correct your teeth, make them straight, and give you a smile that you want to show off!

Today, we will be looking at five different types of dental braces you can get and their benefits.

Metal Braces

Metal braces, also known as classic or traditional braces, are the most prevalent type of braces used around the world and have been used for over a century. Large braces that are on your face are a thing of the past. Advances in innovation and technology have become more common.

  • Miniature
  • Quicker
  • A more comfortable experience
  • More practical

Ceramic Braces

Ceramic braces are constructed of tooth-colored, transparent material. They function similarly to metal braces, although they are more subtle and less noticeable. Ceramic braces are preferred by patients who are not interested in Invisalign or lingual braces but still wish to have their teeth straightened discreetly and economically.

Ceramic braces are less apparent than metal braces and are a more inexpensive alternative to traditional braces. However, you should be aware that these braces are significantly larger than classic braces and that they can discolor depending on your diet and brushing habits. Although they are not for everyone, these braces are a great tool to have if you need braces.

Self-ligating Braces

These braces are similar to the first two types of dental braces we mentioned earlier, as they both use a brace bracket and wire. Self-ligating dental braces use clips, also known as doors to hold the wire in place.

Lingual Braces

The most advanced and unusual orthodontic technique is lingual braces, which are hidden behind the teeth. These treatments require unique orthodontic skills that very few orthodontists are capable of mastering. These dental braces are great for those who do not want their braces to be seen by others.

Invisalign And Clear Aligners Braces

It has become increasingly popular in the last decade to use clear aligners. Invisalign is ideal for patients who previously had braces and only require a “touch up,” as well as those with mild to moderate dental issues such as misaligned teeth, an overbite, and gaps between their teeth which are known as an open bite. However, transparent aligner systems, including Invisalign, have significant limitations when it comes to providing full treatment or resolving challenging problems.

You're All Awesome!!
